The Tilta Nucleus Nano II Motor Kit is a focus motor for the Nucleus wireless systems. According to the manufacturer it delivers five times the torque of the Nucleus Nano motor and adjusts that torque to the load on its own. It clamps onto a 15 mm rod and a 0.8 MOD gear ring is included. Two USB-C ports act as power input and output and, on selected cameras, as the data link for changing settings.
The motor is the part of the Nucleus Nano II system that sits on the lens. A single button calibrates it, pairs it and changes its assigned function; the colour-coded LED shows whether it is currently on focus, iris or zoom.
A motor with five times the torque
According to the manufacturer the Nucleus Nano II motor delivers five times the torque of the Nucleus Nano motor and adjusts that torque to the load on its own. It clamps onto a 15 mm rod and the 0.8 MOD gear ring fits most lenses. Two USB-C ports work as both power input and output, so several motors can be daisy-chained from one source.
One button, a colour-coded LED
Calibrating to a new lens, entering pairing mode and changing the assigned function are all done with a single button. The colour-coded LED shows whether the motor is currently on focus, iris or zoom, so the assignment is obvious at a glance even in the dark. The USB-C port can also talk to cameras that have one.
Works with older gear too
The system drives Nucleus Nano II, Nucleus Nano and Nucleus-M motors and, through the optional receiver module, DJI Focus motors and the DJI RS 2 and RS 3 Pro gimbals as well. Camera settings can be changed on selected Sony, Canon, Blackmagic Design and RED models; the range of functions depends on the model and the firmware version.
Firmware needs the hand wheel
The Nucleus Nano II motor needs the Nucleus Nano II hand wheel in order to update its firmware. Without the updated firmware the motor will not work with the first-generation Nucleus Nano hand wheel or with Nucleus-M hand grips. The Advanced Side Focus Handle additionally requires a separately sold cable.
