The Tilta TA-AR-BJ is a ball joint with an ARRI rosette mount for the Tilta Mini Articulating Arm. The toothed rosette with its threaded stud meshes with the counterpart on a cage, handle or shoulder rig and is tightened — the teeth hold the angle and the arm does not rotate under the weight of a monitor. In the arm, the joint swaps with the original one in seconds. The body is aluminium alloy and stainless steel, in black.
The Tilta TA-AR-BJ joins the Mini Articulating Arm to an ARRI rosette — the standard that cages, handles and shoulder rigs for cinema cameras carry on their sides.
ARRI rosette: a toothed connection that does not rotate
The mount is an ARRI rosette with a threaded stud in the centre. The teeth of the rosette mesh with the teeth of the counterpart on the cage or handle, the stud is tightened and the connection holds by shape, not just by friction — which is why the arm with a monitor or transmitter does not rotate even after a knock. The angle is set tooth by tooth: loosen, turn a few teeth, tighten. The ARRI rosette is where heavier accessories go and where the rig is rebuilt often.
Swapped in the arm without tools
The Tilta Mini Articulating Arm has a clamp at each end that grips the ball. Release the clamp, the original joint comes out, this one goes in and the clamp locks it again — it takes a few seconds and the arm is ready for a different kind of mount. The other end can keep the original 1/4″-20 joint, or take another mount from the series: cold shoe, NATO clamp, 15/19 mm rod clamp, GoPro or SmallHD.
Tilta ball joints
The Tilta Mini Articulating Arm has swappable ball joints at both ends: pull one out, push another in and lock it, no tools. Ends come for ARRI rosette, cold shoe, NATO rail, 15/19 mm rods, GoPro and SmallHD, plus an extended ball joint arm for more reach. The parts combine freely — a monitor, light or transmitter lands exactly where the rig has room; this joint is one of them.
