The Tilta Hydra Alien Mini Electronic Suction Cup (6″) Kit is a sprung vehicle mount for action cameras, pocket gimbals and phones with the latest 6″ electronic suction cup. Its motor grips in two seconds, samples pressure a thousand times a second and tops the vacuum up by itself if it leaks. The battery lasts up to 19 hours, protection is IPX5, and the kit includes a carrying case and a 1/4″-20 mounting bracket.
A steady image even at motorway speed
The Hydra Alien Mini arm is CNC-machined from a single billet of aluminium alloy, measures 181 × 37.4 × 70.46 mm and weighs 372 g. The hydraulic damper inside keeps the image steady up to 100 km/h (62 mph) and carries 150 to 600 grams — DJI Action, DJI Osmo Pocket, Insta360 X and Ace Pro, or a phone in the Khronos holder. The complete kit weighs 2.1 kg.
A 6″ suction cup with a motor of its own
The 6″ electronic suction cup holds up to twice as strongly as the 4.5″ version. Its high-performance motor grips in two seconds — three times faster than the previous generation — while staying under 60 dB. A sensor samples pressure a thousand times a second; the moment it drops, the motor pumps air out by itself and restores the vacuum. The cup also adapts to high altitude.
Hydraulic damping system
The damper is filled with US automotive-grade oil of the kind used in racing dampers. It absorbs the micro-vibrations that would otherwise blur the image and carries 150 to 600 grams. The oil can be topped up at any time, so the damping stays the same after a season on dusty roads.
Infinite 360° adjustment
The joint turns a full 360° and locks in any position — not in steps, but infinitely. The support arm adjusts on two axes over 270°–90°–270°, so you can push the rig away from the bodywork or swing it along it, depending on where the vehicle offers a flat surface. The camera mounts on a 25 mm rosette.
NATO quick release and the Khronos ecosystem
The NATO quick-release adapter takes the camera off the arm in one movement. With the Khronos cage a phone hangs on it too, so the same rig serves an action camera, a pocket gimbal and a mobile. The suction cup releases with a button on the body or wirelessly — useful when the mount sits somewhere you cannot reach.
Operation and safe use
The suction cup is rated IPX5, so it takes light rain and splashing water. The built-in battery lasts up to 19 hours under normal conditions, and it can also run from USB-C (5 V/1 A). Vacuum status is shown on the screen of the wireless monitor, which is sold separately and is not part of the kit. For delicate surfaces an optional No-Mark pad is available.
Fit the suction cup on a flat surface and keep the weight of the arm balanced over its centre. Extending the arm well past the cup, or side-mounting it, increases the risk of it letting go — secure the rig with a ratchet strap or a safety cable. Like any suction cup it can leave a mark on the surface; do not use it on a wrapped vehicle.
