The Tilta TA-T68-A-B base kit combines the TA-T68-FCC2-B full cage with cooling and the Tilta Xeno top handle with two 1/4″-20 threads. The two-speed fan extends 8K and 4K120 takes, the handle adds a second grip and more places for a monitor or a microphone. Compared with the TA-T68-C-B advanced kit there is no side PD handle, baseplate or 15 mm rods.
Cooling and somewhere to put your other hand are the two things that turn a stills camera into a video one. This kit adds both and nothing more — if you also want power and rods, the TA-T68-C-B advanced kit is the one.
What is in the kit
On top of the full cage with cooling, the base kit adds the Tilta Xeno top handle (TA-XTH4-B) with two 1/4″-20 threads. It carries a monitor or a microphone and doubles as a second grip for low shots. There is no side PD handle, baseplate or rods — those come with the TA-T68-C-B advanced kit.
Cooling that extends your take
The fan is built into the cage and runs at two speeds you switch between to suit the shoot. Tilta’s own lab measured 4K120p 450 Mbps recording extending from roughly 29 to 35 minutes at 24.5 °C indoors and from roughly 16 to 25 minutes at 32 °C. For 8K30P and 4K60P the maker quotes over 120 minutes of recording and cooling on a par with Canon’s original cooling grip.
Powered over a single USB-C cable
The cage has two USB-C ports. A 30 W Power Delivery source plugs into the PD-IN input and drives the fan; the PD-OUT output passes power on to the camera, so one power bank or one battery covers both. Neither the power source nor the USB-C cable is included.
Mounting points all the way round
On top there is a cold shoe receiver and a 3/8″-16 to 1/4″-20 adapter, along the sides 1/4″-20 threads with locating points that stop accessories from twisting, and at the front two M3 threads for lens adapter support. Two holders take a wrist strap. The base has a cut-out marked BATT.OPEN, so the battery can be swapped with the cage on.
Arca-Swiss underneath, screwdriver on board
The bottom plate is an Arca-Swiss profile in its own right — the cage drops into most tripod heads and gimbals without an extra plate. Next to it sit the fan switch, the PD-IN input and a 3/8″-16 thread. A multi-functional magnetic screwdriver rides in a magnetic holder; it mounts and removes the cage and has its own place, so it will not vanish in the bag.
Compatibility
The frame is made specifically for the Canon EOS R5 Mark II. It does not fit other bodies — not even the first-generation Canon EOS R5.
Worth knowing
The fan needs an external USB-C Power Delivery 30 W source. Neither the source nor the cable is included; without them the cage works like any other cage, only without cooling.
