The Tilta TA-1420T-BJ is a ball joint with a 1/4″-20 threaded socket and recesses for locating pins, made for the Tilta Mini Articulating Arm. It takes a 1/4″-20 screw from a bracket, plate or accessory; if the counterpart has locating pins, they drop into the recesses and the connection does not rotate. In the arm, the joint swaps with the original one in seconds. The body is aluminium alloy and stainless steel, in black.
The Tilta TA-1420T-BJ is the most universal mount of the series: a 1/4″-20 thread is everywhere on a rig — on cages, plates, brackets and on the screws of accessories — and this joint connects the arm to any of them.
1/4″-20 threaded socket with anti-rotation recesses
The mount is a disc with a 1/4″-20 threaded socket in the centre and recesses around the rim of the hole. A 1/4″-20 screw from a bracket, cage or accessory threads into it — and if the counterpart has locating pins, as Tilta accessories usually do, they drop into the recesses and the connection holds by shape, not just by tightening. Without pins it works as a plain 1/4″-20 thread.
Swapped in the arm without tools
The Tilta Mini Articulating Arm has a clamp at each end that grips the ball. Release the clamp, the original joint comes out, this one goes in and the clamp locks it again — it takes a few seconds and the arm is ready for a different kind of mount. The other end can keep the original joint, or take another mount from the series: ARRI rosette, cold shoe, NATO clamp, 15/19 mm rod clamp, GoPro or SmallHD.
Tilta ball joints
The Tilta Mini Articulating Arm has swappable ball joints at both ends: pull one out, push another in and lock it, no tools. Ends come for ARRI rosette, cold shoe, NATO rail, 15/19 mm rods, GoPro and SmallHD, plus an extended ball joint arm for more reach. The parts combine freely — a monitor, light or transmitter lands exactly where the rig has room; this joint is one of them.
