Even though a compact format has been prioritized, the lens makes no sacrifices in image quality. The optical design of the Samyang AF 18mm f/2.8 FE consists of 9 elements mounted in 8 groups. Among these are 3 aspherical elements that ensure low distortion and maximum corner to corner sharpness at all apertures, 2 elements of HR glass (High Refractive) and 3 elements of ED glass (Extra low Dispersion) that counteract coma and chromatic aberration (color bleeding).
An advanced anti-reflective Ultra Multilayer Coating (UMC) is used to prevent the occurrence of stray light and ensures that the images show high contrast and brilliance even in difficult lighting conditions.
