Samyang AF 14-24mm F2.8 FE is the
result of a joint development between German optics specialist
Schneider-Kreuznach and Samyang. Despite its compact size, measuring only 88.8
mm in length, it houses a sophisticated optical design with 15 elements in 11
groups. This includes 3 aspherical, 5 high-refractive, and 3 extra-low
dispersion elements, all working together to deliver edge-to-edge sharpness
with minimal chromatic aberration and distortion. The effective correction of
sagittal coma and other optical flaws makes this lens particularly well-suited
for nightscapes and astrophotography. Its constant f/2.8 aperture ensures
excellent low-light performance across the zoom range.
Unlike many
ultra-wide zooms, the AF 14-24mm F2.8 FE allows for the use of standard 77mm
filters, giving users the creative flexibility to attach polarizers and ND
filters with ease.
With a consistent
minimum focusing distance of just 0.18 meters throughout the entire zoom range,
the lens enables up to 0.26x magnification—ideal for impactful close-up shots.
Its robust construction features weather-sealing for reliable protection
against water droplets, light rain, snow, and dust, making it a dependable
companion in challenging environments. A customizable button on the lens barrel
gives users quick access to programmable functions such as preset focus. In
addition, a built-in USB port allows for direct firmware updates, ensuring the
lens remains up to date with the latest enhancements and features.
