The SHAPE Sony A7R III Cage is targeted at filmmakers, videographers and photographers who want a simple, hassle-free and ergonomic cage design that really works.ย Specifically designed for the Sony A7R III and A7 III cameras, the form-fitting cage offers additional protection and securely locks the camera to the cage. It also provides easy access to all controls and ports as well as multiple attachment points for accessories.
For handheld shooting, the side 15 mm rod clamps, located at the back of the cage, are designed for quickly securing the new ergonomic Mini Push-Button Wooden Side Handles with Padded Straps using a single ratchet knob on each side (A73CHH). It also features an ARRI Standard Rosette that can be mounted in four different locations.
Top Handle
The ergonomic and removable SHAPE Top Handle was designed to provide the required space for mounting the Sony XLR-K2M audio unit. It offers a comfortable and secure wooden grip for carrying your camera and securing accessories.
It also features the SHAPE Push-Button Technology, enabling you to balance the weight and rotate the handle in the position you need on a 360ยฐ axis. This nicely crafted Top Handle provides multiple mounting options, including ARRI Standard 3/8โณ-16 anti-rotating hole patterns on the top, SHAPE Standard 1/4โณ-20 anti-rotating hole patterns on the top and side, cold shoe mounts, and a 3/8โณ-16 UNC threaded hole at the front.
It also features the SHAPE Rod Clamp Holder positioning system at the front, allowing you to directly mount a 15mm rod onto the handle.
Quick Release Rod Base System and Metabones Adapter
The cage is connected to its base via the new SHAPE Quick Release Rod Base System using a specifically designed 15 mm rod bloc system for the optical center of the Sony A7R III camera. It allows quick mounting and dismounting of the camera and the cage can easily snap in and be quickly removed from its 15 mm LW base by pressing the release button at the rear of the mount for handheld shooting.
Quick handle rod bloc
The SHAPE Quick handle rod bloc is a professional video stabilization accessory with 2 camera handle grips, each providing an individual rotation angle of 360ยฐ. You can attach the handle to the camera platform using a simple screw knob.
A simple Push-Button located at the articulation allows easy attachment and removal. Combined with the anodized aluminum rod bloc, the quick handle offers composite camera support for all 15 mm rods. You can achieve precise positioning by sliding the Quick Handle along the rods and tightening the small red knob located on the Rod Bloc. The rod bloc is designed with 2 screw-threaded holes allowing the mounting of the Quick Handle.
Composite mini shoulder pad
The SHAPE mini composite shoulder pad is padded for superior comfort and is made of slip-free material. It is designed with a 15 mm rod block on top allowing to hold 15 mm rods for camera and accessories to be attached. The screw knob allows attaching SHAPE counter-weight (PAD1, PADCW1).
By adding extra male-female rods at the back, you can also attach a counter-weight behind the same rods. This way, your body can easily support the weight of the camera and its accessories. The shoulder pad is also the perfect solution for switching rapidly from shoulder to tripod without having to remove the shoulder pad. It can remain on the camera rig permanently.
Backpad
The back pad (PAD1) features a powder coated anodized aluminum plate and arm which are attached to a thick padding on the side facing the user. It is compatible with the SHAPE Mini Composite Shoulder Pad (SHPAD3, SHPAD2, SHPAD1) and can be attached or remove easily from your rig via a 1/4-20 camera screw knob. Additionally, the back padโs position can be adjusted to the userโs preference โ up to 2โณ vertically and 360ยฐ horizontally. The bottom of the back pad is designed with (2) 1/4-20 threaded holes, allowing to attach other accessories or counterweights.
