The Tilta TA-1420S-BJ is a ball joint with a 1/4″-20 screw and locating pins for SmallHD monitors, made for the Tilta Mini Articulating Arm. The screw is tightened with the knurled wheel without tools, the pins drop into the holes in the base of the monitor and it no longer rotates on the arm. In the arm, the joint swaps with the original one in seconds. The body is aluminium alloy and stainless steel, in black.
The Tilta TA-1420S-BJ is the joint for a SmallHD monitor on the Mini Articulating Arm: a 1/4″-20 screw tightened by hand and two pins that keep the monitor in line.
1/4″-20 screw with SmallHD locating pins
The mount is a block with a 1/4″-20 screw and two locating pins at the spacing SmallHD monitors have in their bottom mounting surface. The screw is tightened with the knurled wheel on the side of the block — no coin, no screwdriver — and the pins drop into the holes beside the thread, so the monitor does not rotate on the screw even while the arm is being readjusted.
Swapped in the arm without tools
The Tilta Mini Articulating Arm has a clamp at each end that grips the ball. Release the clamp, the original joint comes out, this one goes in and the clamp locks it again — it takes a few seconds and the arm is ready for a different kind of mount. The other end can keep the original 1/4″-20 joint, or take another mount from the series: ARRI rosette, cold shoe, NATO clamp, 15/19 mm rod clamp or GoPro.
Tilta ball joints
The Tilta Mini Articulating Arm has swappable ball joints at both ends: pull one out, push another in and lock it, no tools. Ends come for ARRI rosette, cold shoe, NATO rail, 15/19 mm rods, GoPro and SmallHD, plus an extended ball joint arm for more reach. The parts combine freely — a monitor, light or transmitter lands exactly where the rig has room; this joint is one of them.
