The new Samyang AF 50mm F1.4 FE II is a lightweight standard prime lens that combines high performance with a small size.
Weighing only 420g the lens is the smallest (88.9mm) and lightest among all the large-aperture standard 50mm focal length lenses compatible with the Sony FE mount. A prime 50mm lens is often regarded as a typical normal lens and roughly corresponds to the image angle we have with our eyes. The lens is perfect for you who want to isolate and highlight your subjects against the background, create beautiful background blur or take photos in low light.
Optical construction
Optical design consists of 11elements in 8 groups (2 ASP, 3 HR, and 1 ED). Combined with Sony’s full-frame image sensor, this lens delivers superior sharpness and contrast in all areas of the image. The 9 diaphragm blades create smooth and natural bokeh and it´s easy to highlight your subject in a fantastic way and create beautiful background blur.
Equipped with Samyang’s Linear STM (Stepping Motor) it satisfies both photographers and videographers with a quieter and more accurate control of the larger and heavier focusing lens groups.
On the side of the lens is a custom switch, which can be set allow adjustment of the aperture by rotating the focus ring. Using the optional Lens Station, you can setup the mode to suit your own preference (more functions will be added through firmware updates in the future).
The 50mm has a micro-patterned rubber focus ring, so feels great to operate and the weather-sealing ensures use even in harsh weather conditions.
The lens fits into a large number of situations and is an excellent lens if you want to shoot video or photograph people and at the same time bring the environment into the picture.
