The Tilta TCB-PTAP-USBC-50 is a power cable from the P-Tap (D-Tap) output of a battery plate to a USB-C plug, intended solely for the Nucleus Nano II motor. It delivers 14.8 V to the motor instead of the voltage of a standard USB-C source, so the motor has more torque on stiff vintage lenses and zooms. Length 50 cm, weight 60 g. It must not be used with the Nano II hand wheel or other USB-C devices.
The Tilta TCB-PTAP-USBC-50 powers the Nucleus Nano II motor straight from a V-Mount or Gold Mount battery. Over USB-C the motor gets a lower voltage from a standard source; from a P-Tap output it gets 14.8 V and has noticeably more strength on a stiff focus ring or a long zoom.
P-Tap at the plate, USB-C at the motor
The P-Tap (D-Tap) plug goes into the output of a Tilta battery plate or battery baseplate on the cage — every V-Mount and Gold Mount plate has that output. The other end is a USB-C plug that fits the power port of the Nucleus Nano II motor. The cable is straight, with copper conductors and a black jacket, 50 cm long, so it reaches from the plate at the back of the cage to the motor on the 15 mm rods in front of the camera.
14.8 V for more torque — for the Nano II motor only
The cable feeds the motor the P-Tap voltage of 14.8 V, more than a standard USB-C source. The Nucleus Nano II motor has more torque with it, which counts on stiff vintage lenses and long zooms where a weaker supply is not enough. That is exactly why the cable is for the Nano II motor only: the Nano II hand wheel and any other USB-C device must not be connected to it.
